White Tie Optional

Ivan is a high school student with a penchant for spiffy dressing. He stood out in a crowd of jeans & t-shirts with his version of "white tie." When asked what his influences were, he said "Korean street style." Creative dress runs in his family; his big brother is designer Ceazar Cabreros who showed during the finale of Sac Fashion Week.

SACRAMENTO Trending: Feathered Hair

This pheasant is pretty pleasant: feathered hair extensions is a trend that's flying high in Sacramento
Sacramento seems quick to follow what has already flown into the fashionable circles of NYC and Hollywood- feathered hair extensions. While the latest craze for hair embellishment may not hearken a Native American dream catcher, the feathers that are attached temporarily into the locks of students and stylistas seem to be a growing craze even deeming a recent mention by Glamour magazine. How do you feel about this flight of fancy?

Street Feet: Life's A Runway

Walk the walk: Street Feet on the runway during Sacramento Fashion Week.

This shot was taken off the runway during last month's Sacramento Fashion Week. The simplicity of the look was a nice breather from all the frosted fantasy that got paraded on the runway but won't make it to the streets. Here, the model wears a simple cut of two powerful neutrals, camel and black, and the utilitarian-style  high tops shoes toe the line from runway to street style.

Street Style: Color Blocking

This lovely lady knows how to K.I.S.S-
and by that I mean KEEP. IT. SIMPLE. SWEET-HEART.

In 4 easy pieces, Missy Bell manages to look like a million bucks, stand out in a crowd and wear the latest spring trend to boot- COLOR BLOCKING.

Check out the power of the color block- the peacock blue peasant skirt paired with a black cotton T-shirt is strutting its stuff next to her amazing emerald green leather shoulder bag. Prolonging the magic is her cool as a cucumber nudie-tan leather cowboy kickers. This woman serves up sizzling without even breaking a sweat.

Oh, it's gets better- her outfit is thrifted except the shoulder bag: that gem came from Anthropologie, and her boots. These BCBG beauties were hand-me-downs from a friend. I'd like to give that friend a hug. And a K.I.S.S.

Street Style: Designing Woman

Designs on Style: This Sacramento Fashion Plate Makes Clothes
Check out this morsel of style perfection spotted at the Elks Tower during Sac Fashion Week. This woman expresses the right mix of personality, funky chic and sophistication. I personally love the brilliant mix of fake fur, animal print and plaid, the play on textures, and those neutral peep-toe booties that kept everything grounded. It turns out that this lovely woman is a clothing designer. In fact, she was one of the designers from the Emerging Designers showcase. When I asked her to describe her collection she said: "The one with the Afros." Her name is Maisha Bahati. Memorize that name. I expect you'll be seeing more of it.

Street Style: The Son of Man

Behold the man in the bowler hat. Stylish and distinctive and forever destined to remind you of the bloke in a Magritte painting. This gent looked every ounce of dapper, lithely sliding through the Sacramento crowd on a Saturday night. His name is Marco and he is from West Hollywood. A creative sort. Owns a guitar named Bella. Yeah, B-E-L-L-A. And that incredible bowler.
